§ 20-1. Initiated by Planning Advisory Board.

  • (a)

    The Director of the Department of Planning and Zoning and the Planning Advisory Board shall conduct a continuing study of all municipal boundaries in cooperation with municipal officials, and make recommendations to the Board of County Commissioners for the orderly adjustment, improvement and establishment of feasible boundaries for all municipalities, commensurate with the comprehensive plan of development for Miami-Dade County, and in compliance with the preliminary land use plan governing the areas involved in any such proposed boundary changes.

    (b)

    All proposed changes in municipal boundaries initiated by the Planning Advisory Board shall be submitted to the governing bodies of the municipalities concerned for consideration and approval, prior to submission of such proposal to the Board of County Commissioners, and shall be considered by the Board of County Commissioners only upon notice to the municipality or municipalities affected and to the owners of property within the area and within six hundred (600) feet thereof.
