§ 2-104. Established; Director as head; appointment; term; assistants; qualifications.

  • The Department of Regulatory and Economic Resources is established. For purposes of this article, "Department" or "Department of Planning and Zoning" shall refer to the Department of Regulatory and Economic Resources or its successor department. The Mayor shall appoint a Director who shall head the Department, and Assistant Directors, all of whom shall serve at the will of the Mayor. The Director shall be qualified in the field of planning, and the Assistant Directors shall be qualified in their respective fields, by special training and experience. As used in this article, references to the "Director" shall include the Director's designee, unless context dictates otherwise. The Mayor shall be responsible for coordinating the work of the Department, the Department of Transportation and Public Works, and the Department of Parks, Recreation, and Open Spaces, or their successor departments.
