§ 8A-209. Pawnbrokers.

  • (1)

    Every person engaged in the business of pawnbroker shall pay a local business tax as provided for in the schedule of taxes, Section 8A-223.1.

    (2)

    No person licensed to engage in the small loan business under the provisions of Chapter 516, Florida Statutes, shall act as a pawnbroker.

    (3)

    Pawnbrokers shall keep a complete and true record of all transactions, showing from whom each article of their stock was purchased or pledged, the date of the transaction and the date and to whom each article was sold, which record shall at all times be subject to the inspection of all police or peace officers.

    (4)

    Any person violating the provisions of this section shall, upon conviction, be punished by imprisonment in the County Jail for a period not exceeding six (6) months.
