§ 8A-7. Prohibition of solicitation of motor vehicle repair work near State of Florida motor vehicle inspection stations.

  • (a)

    It shall be unlawful for any person to offer to perform or solicit motor vehicle repair work as defined in Section 8A-161.1(ee) of this Code if said solicitation or offer occurs within one thousand (1,000) yards of any State of Florida Motor Vehicle Inspection Station located anywhere in Miami-Dade County, Florida, measured by following a straight line from the nearest point of the State of Florida Motor Vehicle Inspection Station property, on any public road or public right-of-way as defined by F.S. § 334.03(22) and (23), as same may be amended from time to time. This provision shall not apply to any business possessing a current occupational license.

    (b)

    If any person violates any of the provisions of this section, such person, upon conviction of such offense, shall be punished by a fine not to exceed five hundred dollars ($500.00), or by imprisonment not to exceed sixty (60) days in the County Jail, or both, in the discretion of the court. Each day of continued violation shall be considered as a separate offense.
