§ 12-9. Solicitation of payments from candidates and offer of payments by candidates for County or municipal office in exchange for endorsement of such candidates for office.
(a)
It is unlawful for any person to solicit a payment of any kind from a candidate for a County or municipal office in Miami-Dade County, or from such candidate's agents, in exchange for the favorable endorsement, or promise of favorable endorsement, by the solicitor or otherwise, of said candidate for the office being sought by him.
(b)
It is unlawful for any candidate for a County or municipal office in Miami-Dade County, or for such candidate's agents, to offer money or anything else of value to any person or organization in exchange for the favorable endorsement of such person or organization.
(c)
Any person violating subsection (a) hereof shall, upon conviction, be punished by a fine not to exceed five hundred dollars ($500.00), or by imprisonment not to exceed sixty (60) days in the County Jail, or both, in the discretion of the court.
